Marketing Program Core
Building on a strong liberal arts background, a major in Marketing provides the student with necessary business competencies to pursue a career in the business of sales and marketing. Students complete coursework that specifically addresses the many facets of marketing in both the for-profit business and not-for-profit organization.

Career Opportunities
The marketing core competencies prepare the student to obtain an entry level job in the marketing field or to advance their career in this area. Opportunities for internships provide students with work experience as part of the requirements for completion.

Persons interested in marketing careers should be mature, creative, highly motivated, flexible, and decisive. The ability to communicate persuasively, both orally and in writing, with managers, staff, and the public is vital. Marketing managers need tact, good judgment, and the exceptional ability to establish and maintain effective personal relationships with supervisory and professional staff members and client firms.

Marketing and sales positions are found in virtually every industry. Sales Managers are employed in wholesale and retail trade, and in the finance and insurance industries. Marketing managers are employed in the professional, scientific, and technical services industries.

Students who complete the B.A. degree in Marketing may find opportunities for employment in the following positions:

  • Marketing Manager
  • Product Development Manager

  • Sales Representative
Facilitators in the Marketing program are marketing managers, marketing specialists, or professors with expertise in their areas of instruction.
