Pete Finnerty received his B.A. in Psychology and M.A. in Counseling from California State University-Fresno, and his Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from Kent State University. As a clinician, Pete honed a holistic, systemic approach to counseling while developing unique nutritional and physical activity techniques for therapy borrowed from his other career as a certified personal trainer and yoga instructor. One particular specialty is utilizing affirmative therapies in clinical work and advocacy with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) persons in counseling. Pete also specializes in working with adolescent boys, couples, families, men, and many others at his current private practice in Beachwood. Pete develops scholarly literature as part of advocacy with the Association of LGBT Issues in Counseling (ALGBTIC), a division of the American Counseling Association.
