Did you know that women control the majority of wealth in this country? They make most of the significant buying decisions for their families and lead the way in healthcare decision-making? They’re starting businesses in record numbers, entering politics, and generating jobs? Today, more women are engaged in the workforce - and in the world - than ever before, and it’s time to take advantage of that power.
As the world changes, the way we learn is changing with it. Women want to keep learning and growing, both personally and professionally, throughout their lives: the days of getting a degree and being “done” with your education are over. Employers want people who can evolve along with them, who can quickly pick up the knowledge they need and not to just roll with change, but to drive it.
People are finally realizing that obtaining knowledge isn’t only about sitting in a classroom for 4-6 years. Today, it’s about flexibility and being able to choose exactly what you learn, and how and when you learn it. This on-demand model is especially ideal for women: multitaskers, caregivers, leaders, community builders and entrepreneurs who want to grow, live healthy lives, and maximize the impact they have within their industries, their communities, and on the people they care about most.
That’s why we created the Institute for Women, Wellness & Work: to offer women the learning they want, when they want it, along with the flexibility to keep growing while raising families, advancing their careers, running businesses and more.
The Institute and Ursuline College: a perfect fit
We have been empowering women to succeed for nearly 150 years, and the Institute is a natural next step for our celebrated institution. The Institute helps women grow throughout their lives by being a place where women can focus on leadership development or personal wellness, on taking a new step in their career or starting a new one, and on making a difference in the world. It is more than a place to learn, it’s a community where women can belong, connect and thrive, and where learning and growing are lifelong pursuits.
The Institute will grow and develop, along with its members. Over time, we will offer more programming, more resources, more innovations. We will learn from our members, as much as they learn from us, and keep building a model that’s flexible, valuable and relevant to women at all stages in their lives.
Our vision has four key elements:
To achieve those goals, we offer accelerated micro-credential-based courses and programs, career and life programming, and foster research and community partnerships to help us all get these important things done together.
The Ursuline heritage is about empowering ALL women, including those from disadvantaged communities. And it’s something the school is very good at: a national study ranked the College as #1 for its record of moving low-income students into higher-income groups. We honor that history by empowering all women. Success, wellness, and happiness should be accessible to every woman and not limited to a privileged few. Many of our partnerships are designed to enable women with financial challenges to benefit from everything the Institute has to offer and to make their mark on the world as well.
