Challenge yourself to create in a modern design studio.
You love fashion and the statements that well-designed apparel communicates. As a Fashion Design major at Ursuline, you'll learn and practice all the essential aspects of design: inspiration, illustration, fundamental pattern making, sewing, drafting, draping and more. Your skill-building will culminate in a final presentation of a designed collection at your Senior Innovations fashion show. And you’ll learn business and technology skills, ensuring your success beyond Ursuline. Our facilities include CAD, 3-D printing, work stations with color printers, scanners, Adobe Creative Cloud programs (Illustrator, Photoshop), and access to online fashion resources. You'll also work with sewing, industrial sewing, and cover stitch machines, multi-thread sergers, industry-standard pattern drafting tables, and standard Wolf dress forms.
The fashion industry offers graduates a variety of career options: apparel designer, apparel manufacturer, costume designer, research, retailing, illustrator, CAD designer, stylist, fashion forecaster, restoration, preservation, fashion beading and colorist. To teach at the university level, majors are strongly encouraged to pursue a master’s degree.
