    The demand for wellness has never been greater with a global pandemic, record high unemployment rates, and stay-at-home orders. Now, as Americans emerge and return to work, social workers, human resource directors, school administrators, and others need training to identify those who need assistance improving all facets of wellness - physical, mental, spiritual, and financial.

    Through interventions in behavior change, preparedness, and a holistic approach to wellness, you can be part of the wellness solution.

    Ursuline College's Institute for Women, Wellness & Workforce offers a series of courses that can be:

    • Taken individually for personal or professional development
    • Bundled to earn specific micro-credentials or certificates
    • Pursued toward graduate-level programs

    Summer 2020 Programming

    Impact of COVID-19:
    Understanding Substance Use Disorders in the Workforce

    (this is a non-credit-bearing workshop)

    For human resource leaders, managers, small-business owners, principals, superintendents, religious leaders, and others. 

    • Learn about the pathway to addiction 
    • Recognize the signs and symptoms for each pathway stage
    • Gain information on effective ways to support those impacted by addiction
    • Explore the impact of addiction on families, the workplace, community organizations, and society

    This workshop is repeated on three days. Choose one synchronous class time:

    Healthy Aging: Mind, Body & Spirit

    (1 credit for completing all 3 sections)

    Learn how to work with the senior community using methods that support maximum engagement and independence for older adults. This one-credit workshop covers specific aspects of aging and caregiving.

    • Monday, July 13 Synchronous: 7:00-8:30 p.m. Caregiving in the 21st Century. Instructor: Stacey O’Brien, MSSA, LISW
    • Monday, July 20 Synchronous: 7:00-8:30 p.m. Advanced Directives and Care Planning. Instructor: Anne Murphy Brown, JD.
    • Monday, July 27 Synchronous: 7:00-8:30 p.m. Nutrition and Longevity. Instructor: Lynn Ulatowski, PhD




    Exercise and Nutrition for Women

    (1 credit)

    As a practitioner who guides athletes in achieving excellence, you’ll learn:

    • To identify the benefits of exercise wellness as a lifelong habit
    • About macronutrients and micronutrients and how they work in the body
    • To be able to determine if you’re getting adequate nutrients in your diet
    • To understand nutrition information for exercise and hydration
    • About specific sport injury trends and the basics of taping, splinting, and wound care
