    Global Perspectives: Featuring Julie Garreau

Ursuline College welcomes Julie Garreau as its 2020 Global Perspectives speaker. Ms. Garreau is a member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe and executive director of the Cheyenne River Youth Project. She is the recipient of numerous awards and has helped in creating countless programs to empower Lakota youth. Her programs have welcomed Ursuline’s service learning students for many years; with her visit to campus, many more members of the community can learn from her work.

Ms. Garreau's visit, all the way from Eagle Butte, South Dakota, is co-sponsored by:

    • The Women’s Center
    • The School of Arts and Sciences
    • The School of Graduate and Professional Studies
    • Ursuline Core Curriculum
    • Art Therapy
    • Counseling and Art Therapy

Join us in learning about her innovative initiatives including, Red Can Graffiti Jam. This embodies the global graffiti art movement with the indigenous culture and stories. It brings together the community and allows youth to express and explore their unique identities.
