Ursuline College is accepting applications for a part-time, non-tenure-track, Instructor, Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor rank, faculty position in Fashion for the 2021-2022 academic year, with a start date of August 15, 2021.
The primary responsibility for the position is instruction in undergraduate fashion courses, from one hundred through four hundred level, with a part-time undergraduate teaching load of 2 + 2 (typically, two courses each semester). The focus of teaching will be fashion merchandising, which includes the areas of product development, branding, and buying, but the ability to teach courses in fashion design or costume design would be desirable as well. Experience in programs that bridge to industry and provide internships and field experiences is helpful. Other responsibilities include curriculum development, program assessment, student advising, scholarly research, and committee service.
For this position, an MA or higher in fashion is required. An MFA or Ph.D. in fashion is desirable but not required. Candidates must give evidence of successful teaching experience at the undergraduate level. The successful candidate also has a record of scholarly and professional achievements, especially those which provide opportunities (research experiences, internships) for students. Candidates must have excellent communication skills, mature judgement, and demonstrated success working with a diverse student population.
