Three faculty members receive awards for their dedication and service.

    November 16, 2015

The full-time faculty recipient of the Teaching Excellence Award for 2015 is Sr. Rosaria Perna, O.S.U. She is a faculty member in the Art Department where she began the Visual Communication Design major. Sr. Rosaria works tirelessly to provide her students with art instruction that is interesting, relevant and designed to develop each student’s talents. Her students appreciate the skill that she brings to the classroom, but comment even more on her openness and her enthusiasm for art, graphic design and teaching.

The part-time faculty recipient of the Teaching Excellence Award for 2015 is Dr. Elizabeth Meacham of the Philosophy and Religious Studies departments. Dr. Meacham’s teaching is characterized by creativity and a sincere effort to assist students in developing their beliefs. She involves students in classroom experiences that draw them to develop values and enact those values. These methods and current and meaningful, and they also are reflective of the mission of the College and the Ursuline Studies core curriculum.

The 2015 recipient of the Marie LoPresti Faculty Award for Community Service goes to Dr. Mary Lind Crowe, Assistant Professor of The Breen School of Nursing. Dr. Crowe is active in a number of community organizations and projects. She is an active volunteer for the Immigration and Refugee Center in Cleveland, the Cleveland Hispanic Center, the Diocese of Cleveland FEST, and the Homeless Stand-Down. Crowe was recently recognized by the Greater Cleveland Nurses Association for her work and commitment to serving the Cleveland community. Her teaching transforms students for service. This past year she arranged for students to travel to DC to participate in an intensive learning experience about influencing healthcare policy for homeless women. Her life is an example of service.
