Ursuline welcomes new board members Lori Kalic, Cynthia Moore-Hardy, Eddie Taylor & Rev. Gary Yanus

    December 18, 2017

Ursuline College recently welcomed four new members to its Board of Trustees, accounting firm partner Lori Kalic, health system president Cynthia Ann Moore-Hardy, insurance company president Eddie Taylor, Jr., and canon lawyer Father Gary D. Yanus.

“We are pleased to welcome to our Board of Trustees these accomplished professionals who bring with them insight from health care, the business community and church leadership,” said Sr. Christine De Vinne, OSU, PhD, president of the College. “We are grateful that Ms. Kalic, Ms. Moore-Hardy, Mr. Taylor and Father Yanus are deeply committed to the mission of Ursuline College.”

Kalic is partner at RSM US, a leading international provider of audit, tax and consulting services. As an accountant and business advisor, she has led audits of membership organizations, health care entities, foundations, colleges and universities and most other types of nonprofit and government organizations.

Kalic currently serves as a member of the board of the Fine Arts Association in Willoughby, the advisory committee of John Carroll University’s Department of Accountancy, and the Accounting Practices Committee of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops. She is a past recipient of the YWCA Woman of Professional Excellence award and serves as the Great Lakes Regional leader of STAR, which is an RSM employee network group whose mission is to promote the stewardship, teamwork, advancement and retention of RSM’s women.

Kalic earned a bachelor of science in business administration at John Carroll University.

“Ursuline College is an incredibly important academic resource in our community whose mission is to empower and educate women,” Kalic said. “I am very passionate about this mission and am looking forward to assisting Ursuline College in achieving this goal.”

Moore-Hardy is president and CEO of Lake Health, a community health care system based in Lake County and incorporating 600 physicians, 2,900 health care professionals, and multiple facilities. She earned a BSN (bachelor of science in nursing) degree from The Ohio State University and an MBA from Cleveland State University.

“I am very honored and look forward to serving on the Board of Trustees representing Ursuline College, whose mission is to transform students for service, leadership and professional excellence while fostering lifelong learning,” said Moore-Hardy.

Moore-Hardy is the recipient of numerous community awards including YWCA Women of Achievement; Inside Business 100 Most Influential CEOs, Politicians and Civic Leaders in Northeast Ohio; and following her 2016 term as chair of the Ohio Hospital Association Board she received the 2017 Ohio Hospital Association’s James R. Castle Distinguished Service Award. A civic leader, she has served on the boards of numerous organizations, including Fifth Third Bank, Holden Forests & Gardens, Cleveland Food Bank, and the Alzheimer’s Association

Taylor is founder and president of Taylor Oswald, a venture he launched with Oswald Companies, one of the nation’s largest independent, employee-owned insurance brokerage firms. Taylor has previously owned or operated companies in a variety of industries including warehousing and distribution.

He is a graduate of Allegheny College, where he is the immediate past chair of the board of trustees. He completed the Executive MBA Program at the Case Western Reserve University’s Weatherhead School of Management.

Taylor was the founding chairman of the board of directors for the Cleveland Leadership Center and is a former board chair of the Greater Cleveland Chapter of the American Red Cross. He is a past chair of The Presidents’ Council, LLC. and the Commission on Economic Inclusion. He is the current vice chair of University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center and serves as a board member for the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission; Greater Cleveland Partnership; Northeast Ohio Council on Higher Education; College Now, Greater Cleveland; Cuyahoga Community College Foundation (Tri-C); and the Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges.

Rev. Yanus is both vicar general and judicial vicar for the Diocese of Cleveland. As vicar general, he has the authority to assist Cleveland Bishop Nelson Perez in matters of diocesan governance. He was appointed to this role by the bishop in September, having served as vicar general under Bishop Richard Lennon from 2014-2016. As judicial vicar since 2002, he has the authority to judge cases in the diocesan ecclesiastical court and oversees the administration of justice in the name of the bishop.

Since 2006, Rev. Yanus has served on the faculty of Saint Mary Seminary and Graduate School of Theology in Wickliffe, as professor of canon law.

Ordained in 1981, Rev. Yanus has assisted as administrator of a number of parishes in the diocese. He earned a bachelor of arts degree at Baldwin-Wallace University; master of divinity degree at St. Mary Seminary and Graduate School of Theology; and a doctorate in canon law at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas in Urbe, Rome.

“I am honored to be able to contribute to the development of Ursuline College and its bright future as a prominent educational institution in Northeast Ohio,” Rev. Yanus said.
