Ursuline College announces appointment of Susan Dileno as vice president for enrollment management

    May 29, 2018

Ursuline College has announced the appointment of Susan Dileno as Vice President for Enrollment Management. Dileno joins the College’s leadership May 29 to oversee admission and financial aid functions.

A native Clevelander, Dileno has worked in admission at small to mid-sized private institutions across her career, including at Ohio Wesleyan University, Baldwin Wallace University, Case Western Reserve University and Hartwick College in upstate New York.

“The breadth of Ms. Dileno’s experience includes success across student populations, from first-year undergraduates, to transfer students and graduate students,” said Ursuline College President Sister Christine De Vinne, OSU, Ph.D. “In addition to recruitment, Ms. Dileno has worked on retention, financial aid leveraging, articulation agreements, and program expansion.”

Dileno said she was attracted to Ursuline College for its “focus on women and leadership, grounded strategic plan and commitment to growth and success.”

Dileno served most recently at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio, where she was vice president for enrollment management from 2014 until 2017. There, she implemented new technology that enhanced the flow of communication with prospective students and improved tracking, and reporting. She also spearheaded a digital marketing campaign for OWU, created new financial aid strategies to assist students in graduating in four years, and streamlined the university's process for evaluating credits from transfer students.

Prior to her appointment at OWU, Dileno served as vice president of enrollment management at Baldwin Wallace University from 2003 until 2014.

She has been a frequent presenter at state, regional, and national meetings on topics including strategic enrollment management, use of technology in recruitment, enrollment marketing and higher education leadership. Active in professional organizations, she has served as a board member of the Ohio College Access Network, and has been a member of the College Board, and the National Association for College Admission Counseling. She was a founding member of the Ohio Private College Admission Enrollment Vice Presidents Group for the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Ohio, through which she helped launch the Ohio Private College Visit Days program. She has also been involved in the Higher Education Compact of Cleveland and served on the steering committee of Ohio Application Week.

Dileno earned a bachelor of science degree (BS) at Niagara University in Lewiston, New York, and a master of business administration (MBA) degree at Case Western Reserve University.

A nine-member search committee at Ursuline College vetted 34 applicants from 14 states and three countries.

Dileno replaces Deanne Hurley, who has served the college as both vice president for enrolment management and vice president of student affairs since 2013. With Dileno’s appointment, Hurley resumes the position she held for more than 20 years, vice president of student affairs, dean of students.

Sr. De Vinne thanked Hurley. “Deanne’s leadership built a cohesive unit committed to enrollment growth. The students whom Deanne’s team has welcomed over the past years will thrive as she continues to shepherd Student Affairs and the many programs it encompasses across campus.”
