Ursuline College Director of Athletics Cindy McKnight has been selected as the chair of the NCAA Women's Basketball Regional Advisory Committee for the Midwest Region.
McKnight was elected by her peers at the NCAA Convention last week in Orlando, Florida. She previously served the last two years as a member of the Regional Advisory Committee.
In addition to her role as chair of the committee, McKnight will also serve on the national committee that will select the 64-teams that will compete in the 2019 NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Tournament this March.
The NCAA has divided all of the Division II women's basketball schools into eight regions based on location. Each region has a Regional Advisory Committee (RAC) that consists of the regional chair and five selection
members. Each region consists of three conferences with two representatives on the RAC from each conference.
Over the course of the final three weeks of the season, the committee will produce a regional ranking of the top 10 women's basketball teams based on pre-set criteria, which are published at NCAA.com. Upon the conclusion of the regular season and conference championships, the committee will select the top eight teams in each region to participate in the 64-team national tournament.
McKnight is the first and only Athletic Director in Ursuline College history, having established the program in 1999 and having led the transition to NCAA Division II in 2012-13. In 2006-07, she was named Athletic Director of the
Year by the National Associated of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA).
The 2019 Division II Women's Basketball Elite 8 and Final Four will be held at Alumni Hall on the campus of Ohio Dominican University in Columbus, Ohio.
