Say Amen to College Scholarships offered to students at six Catholic high schools

    September 19, 2019

Ursuline College has committed to awarding full scholarships to graduates of six Greater Cleveland Catholic high schools through the college’s new Say Amen to College Scholarship.

The high schools are Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School (VASJ), Beaumont School, Saint Joseph Academy, Cleveland Central Catholic High School,Trinity High School, and Saint Martin de Porres High School. Like Ursuline College, Beaumont is sponsored by the Ursuline Sisters of Cleveland while VASJ is co-sponsored by the Ursuline Sisters of Cleveland and The Society of Mary (Marianists).

Echoing the commitment Ursuline made earlier this year to the Say Yes to Education Compact, Say Amen will provide one student from each of these schools a full-tuition scholarship award for the 2020-2021 academic year, renewable for four years of consecutive, full-time enrollment.

“We share with these high schools a commitment to Catholic education and a belief that Catholic education can transform students’ lives,” said Ursuline College President Sister Christine De Vinne, OSU, PhD. “We look forward to welcoming six Say Amen to College Scholarship awardees to Ursuline College as members of the Class of 2024 and educating them for service, leadership and professional excellence.”

By contrast, the Say Yes to Education scholarships are available only to graduates of Cleveland Metropolitan School District high schools. Ursuline College awarded five Say Yes scholarships to incoming first-year students this fall.

Say Amen to College Scholarships cover tuition for up to four years of full-time attendance through federal, state and Ursuline College grants.

To be considered for this scholarship, students must:

    • Complete all requirements for admission (there is no separate application)
    • Complete an application for admission and file a completed FAFSA by March 1, 2020
    • Apply as a full-time, first-time student

“With Say Amen, we pledge to provide these Catholic school students with the resources and human connections that will help them succeed,” Sister De Vinne said.

Ursuline offers more than 30 undergraduate programs. Some 90% of its undergraduate students are women.

Ursuline’s admission office will be making the candidate selections by March 15. For more information or to apply, please contact admission@ursuline.edu.
