“Runway 2020” student fashion show is April 26

    February 14, 2020

Ursuline College will host the “Runway 2020” fashion show on Sunday, April 26, at 1:00 p.m. at its Sister Diana Stano Athletic Center, 2550 Lander Road, Pepper Pike. Tickets will be sold at the door only and are $15 for adults, $5 for students, and free for children 10 and under.

This live runway performance will showcase more than 45 garments designed and created by students in the Fashion Design major and ranging from ready-to-wear, to elegant, to avant-garde. Students in Ursuline’s Fashion Merchandising major produce the entire show.

“It’s very exciting to watch our students unveil their original designs while putting on a first-class runway production,” said Dr. Constance Korosec, professor and chair of Ursuline’s Fashion Design and Merchandising program. “The goal is to provide our students, from first-years to seniors, with real world design experience while they showcase their designs to the academic, fashion community, and the public.”

Runway 2020 marks the 42nd year Ursuline has celebrated the close of the spring semester with a fashion show production. The event showcases the work of first-years, sophomores, juniors, seniors, and alumnae who will display unified collections that demonstrate the fashion design being created at the College.

This year’s show will feature selected scenes from the College’s 4,000-piece Historic Costume Study Collection. “Jackets,” “Glove Dresses,” “Into The Meadows,” “Eveningwear,” and, “One of a Kind” are some of the themes represented in the show.

Draping and Flat Pattern students, working with instructor Jennifer Knaus, were guided through the design process and required to prepare a collection of garments for the production. Students developed their pieces around individual themes.

All of these designs will be on our runway in the student show. Students will participate in the show either by unveiling their original designs created in advanced fashion classes or by adding their own touches to commercial patterns selected in textile classes.

As part of Ursuline’s program, students can spend their third year of study at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, access the College’s Historic Costume Study Collection of more than 4,000 pieces of 20th Century American apparel and accessories, and take field study trips to New York City, Chicago, Columbus, Dallas, Atlanta and Toronto.
