    Coronavirus Q+A for Students

    March 16, 2020

Ursuline College staff members are meeting each day to manage the directives from the governor, but most especially to make decisions that will keep students healthy and safe.

Students: a large part of keeping yourself healthy is YOU! Be sure to follow the guidelines for proper handwashing, get plenty of rest, eat well-balanced and healthy meals, don’t touch your eyes and face, sneeze into a clean tissue, and cover that cough with your arm or elbow.

Campus residents: please re-answer this one-question questionnaire if your initial answer has changed.

    • Can I get my books, my favorite t-shirt, my pillow, etc. from my room?
Yes. Your ID will activate at the usual time.
    • Should I come back to the residence halls to stay?
All residents are strongly encouraged to stay where they were for spring break or return to their permanent address (home).
    • Is there an RA on duty?
Yes. Please call 440.221.2814 to speak to a member of the Residence Life Team.
    • Is food service open?
As of now, food service is available with adjusted hours.Breakfast will be served from 9:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m., lunch 11:30am – 1:30pm, dinner 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. These times are subject to change.
    • Can I get a refund for room & board?
The residence halls and food service remain open at this time. Due to the fluidity of the Coronavirus pandemic, the College will decide the best course of action for the room and board expenses at a future date. We will let you know as soon as a decision is made. The college focus right now is on the health and safety of our students, faculty and staff.
    • Is the bookstore open?
The bookstore is open Monday - Thursday 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.; closed Friday – Sunday. These times are subject to change.
    • Is commencement cancelled?
This is a topic of discussion, but no decision has been made to cancel commencement at this time. The situation is ever changing and it is too early to make a decision about this special event scheduled for May 15, 2020.
    • Why are athletics cancelled?
The Great Midwest Athletic Conference has suspended all team-related activities through April 6, 2020. Following that date, institutions will review and implement team-related activities at their discretion as permitted by NCAA legislation.
    • Are counseling services available?
Counseling will primarily be conducted by phone and will be explicitly for those established clients who are experiencing “significant mental health distress.” This document provides more information, including community referrals.
