March 17, 2020
More business closures, and restrictions have been put in place as a result of efforts to effectively stem the spread of the Covid-19 virus in Ohio. In this rapidly changing environment, some of our clinical practice partners have cancelled clinical rotations for undergraduate students, which prevents us from offering clinical experiences across the lifespan for our students in an equitable manner. Clinical experiences for undergraduate nursing students were suspended as of 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 until further notice. Graduate nursing students will follow their current clinical placement hours unless directed otherwise by the faculty responsible for their placements.
Please remember that this is a dynamic and evolving situation, and we will keep you posted as any changes occur. Please know that simulation and other learning activities will be required of students to ensure that we are able to develop and document competency. Each course instructor will work with the clinical faculty to determine the requirements for each course. Please make certain that you are engaged in the online learning environment (Desire2Learn) and check emails frequently throughout the day for additional updates.
Over the next few days, please make certain that you communicate with your faculty. Again, know that the campus is not closed and that faculty and staff are committed to being available and ready to assist you should you desire to meet with them face-to-face or virtually.
We are committed to ensuring that your nursing education will safely prepare you for the work you will be doing as a professional registered nurse or advanced practitioner in the future.
