Only 32 days after announcing the addition of men’s sports to the Arrows roster, Ursuline College signs its first male athlete. Dillon Defibaugh of Johnstown, Pennsylvania who specializes in the 400-meter run, became the founding member of the Arrows indoor and outdoor men’s track & field teams on Monday, December 2.
“We’re thrilled to have Dillon as our first male Arrow,” states Ursuline Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Alaric Best. “Besides being an outstanding athlete, he has demonstrated the type of character that serves as a strong foundation for the rest of our men’s team.”
Building on the success of the indoor national championship win of Alaysia Brooks in the 800-meter run, the historically women’s college which has enrolled men since 1969, announced the addition of men’s cross country as well as men’s indoor and outdoor track & field on October 31 of this year. These three NCAA Division II sports will begin competition in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) in the fall of 2025.
Best, who is also the head coach for the school’s women’s cross country and women’s track & field, continues, “We have seen multiple NCAA top 25 performances in the past seven years. Our female athletes are leaders both on the track and in the classroom. We are looking to add men that can work alongside these remarkable women to continue our incredible legacy.”
A senior from Conemaugh Township Area High School, Defibaugh is also a standout on the soccer field. He scored several goals for the team which was a finalist in this year’s PIAA District V, Class A1 Boys Soccer Championship. He plans to major in Sport Management.
