With the athleticism of men’s and women’s basketball being on full display this weekend as March Madness heads to the Big Dance, the Ursuline College Arrows are being recognized for flexing another kind of muscle: their brain power. The College recently announced the names of 322 students who made the President’s and Dean’s List for Fall 2024. The lists include 87 scholar-athletes who play for the NCAA Division II school.
“We’re tremendously proud of all our students and their academic successes,” says Ursuline College President David A. King. “We’re also impressed by the academic rigor displayed by our Arrows, 60 percent of whom made one of the College’s academic honor rolls last semester. Their achievements speak volumes about the dedication of not just our students but also their coaches and advisors who work with them to become their best selves on and off field.”
Ursuline Athletic Director Cindy McKnight notes, “Many of our athletes are studying to be future nurses, trainers, or entrepreneurs. You’ll find them working out in the gym before heading to clinicals and internships. You’ll also see them in the library late at night studying after a big game or full practice. We encourage them to utilize the discipline they’ve acquired on the field in the classroom to accomplish their career goals.”
Full-time students must attain a 4.0 semester grade point average (GPA) to be named to the President’s List and 3.50 to 3.99 semester GPA to be on the Dean’s List.
In Fall 2025, the College will welcome its first male athletes to compete in men’s indoor and outdoor track & field and men’s cross country. It will also be the first college in Ohio to add intercollegiate women’s flag football, one of the fastest growing sports in the nation.
