Recruitment begins for Men’s Golf
The Ursuline College Athletic Department announced today the addition of its fourth men’s athletic programs: Men’s Golf. Last November, the historically women’s college shared plans to add Men’s Cross Country as well as Men’s Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field to its impressive roster of NCAA Division II sports offerings in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC).
“Though we started our track and field recruitment efforts mid-cycle,” notes Athletic Director Cindy McKnight, “we met our goal of signing at least 10 outstanding students to our men’s teams. This success speaks to the value of an Ursuline College education and the strength of our athletic programs for scholar-athletes.”
McKnight continued, “The College would like to build off this momentum with the addition of men’s golf. We hope to recruit seven to 10 male golfers for the Fall 2026 season once we complete our search for the team’s coach, which is now underway.”
Men were first admitted to Ursuline College in 1969 and currently represent approximately 10 percent of its overall enrollment.
“There may be a small rise in the percentage of men enrolled,” notes McKnight, “but we see these teams as an opportunity to engage more men in our mission of educating students for service, leadership, and professional excellence.”
She adds, “Athletics in general can provide a sense of belonging and community to enhance both male and female enrollment and retention.”
Announced in May 2024, Ursuline’s intercollegiate Women’s Flag Football team, the first in Ohio, begins competition in the upcoming academic year as well as Men’s Cross Country, and Men’s Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field.
