Director of Campus Ministry

Summary
The Director of the Office of Campus Ministry invites students, faculty and staff to animate and embrace the core value of spirituality through a variety of programs and opportunities for prayer, reflection, service, and justice. Inspired by the charism of the Ursuline Sisters of Cleveland, the Office of Campus Ministry works with campus partners to promote the Ursuline mission and heritage. This is a full time, 10 month position, reporting to the Vice President for Student Affairs.
Responsibilities
Creates opportunities for students, faculty and staff to come together in an organized program of prayer, liturgy and sacraments. Support and collaborate with Ursuline’s chapter of Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Prepare college wide communications for religious holidays, both Catholic and other faith traditions. Coordination and purchase of all necessary liturgical supplies and serve as point person for St. Angela Chapel. Assesses spiritual needs of college community and works to develop mission-based programming for students.
Identify or continue to develop relationships with local service providers in order to establish service sites for students as part of “Together We Can” service program. Raise and foster consciousness of the needs of the local and global community through participation in justice programs, workshops, discussions and related activities, with a special emphasis on racial justice and DEI and Belonging in coordination with Office of Diversity. Promote the legacy of Sr. Dorothy Kazel, OSU through annual programming and award. Provides spiritual direction and pastoral counseling for students, faculty and staff, as requested. Coordinate communications regarding death notices for faculty and staff. Confidential Title IX reporter for the college community.
Collaborates closely with the College’s Director of Mission to promote the mission. In general, the Campus Minister is responsible for liturgical/sacramental programming, service programs, and programming that focuses on students, though not exclusively; the Director of Mission is responsible for mission-centric communication and programming, with a focus on programming for faculty and staff and connections with external groups, again not exclusively.
Initiate and collaborate with other Directors to provide programming that contributes to a culture of reflection and the promotion of service or justice. Represent Campus Ministry and Catholic identity in areas such as Committee on Student Organizations (COSO), Mission Committee and LGBTQ issues. Performs administrative tasks for the area such as documentation and reporting, budgeting and record keeping.
Qualifications
Master's degree in Ministry, Pastoral Counseling, Theology, Religious Education or related field. Familiarity with ministry in higher education setting or non-profit and comfortable in ecumenical and interfaith setting. Good people skills, organizer/ leader, collaborator, experience working with college students, proficient computer skills. At least three years related experience. Strong student programming skills. Experience working in an inclusive environment. Must be practicing Catholic who understands, appreciates, and will ensure the Catholic, Ursuline charism, mission and identity of the College community. Weekends and evenings are expected. Must be able to drive a 15 passenger van to drive students to events and activities (will train, must have clean driving record). Preferred Qualifications: Experience in campus ministry and/or pastoral counseling.
