Trauma exposure is widespread, with estimates suggesting over 2/3 of adults have experienced at least one traumatic experience in their lifetime. It can have lifelong effects on a person’s brain and body, impacting their interpersonal relationships, emotion regulation, physical health, and sense of safety and trust.
Understanding the effects of trauma will prepare students to work in a variety of human service sectors, including medical care, education, counseling and therapy, social services, and human resources, among others.
The Trauma-Informed Care micro credential is launching in Fall 2024. At this time, TIC courses are only offered in the Fall semester.
The trauma-informed care courses can be taken individually or as a three-course sequence to complete the micro credential/3-credit general elective.
Each course is 1-credit and is charged at the Undergraduate UCAP rate.
