Why I Chose Ursuline
I knew that I wanted to attend a smaller school that had small class sizes. I wanted to be able to be known by my professors and not just “another number.” I wanted to be on a campus that was beautiful, with open spaces, that felt peaceful and like home to me. I also looked mainly at schools where I knew I could play soccer, as it was my passion. However, I also wanted to focus strongly on my academics.
Putting My Ursuline Degree to Work
My Ursuline education fully prepared me for going to graduate school, which ultimately prepared me for where I am now (a child psychologist working in a private practice). I loved that in my first year I was able to begin taking Psychology courses, and not just Psychology 101. The courses are challenging, and Dr. Edmonds and Dr. Frazier push all their students to put forth their best effort. What probably helped me the most was my ability to take so many research courses, allowing me to have a foundational understanding of research which was crucial in my PhD program.
I’m Making My World More…
[Healthy]. A long-term goal of mine has always been to help others achieve their goals and explore all their possible opportunities. I want to achieve this goal through my clinical practice, through informal and formal presentations, and eventually through being a professor. I have been able to work with countless children and adolescents to help them realize their full worth and potential, and that is truly a great feeling. My Ursuline education has prepared me to be able to do all of this by challenging me and pushing me to apply for PhD programs. Without the support of Dr. Edmonds and Dr. Frazier along the way, I don’t think I would be where I am today.
