    Undergraduate English

My Ursuline education inspired me to pursue law school.

    Marcella McHenry

How did your experience at Ursuline help your journey to this point, passing the Ohio Bar Exam?
Ursuline helped me through my journey passing the bar because that is where I got interested in pursuing law as a career.

How did your Ursuline education help you as a graduate student?
When I was a junior, I reached out to Anne Murphy-Brown, the head of the Legal Studies department at Ursuline, and she was the one who recommend I apply to the University of Dayton for law school. She nominated me for the leadership honors program, which is a program that offers a full-ride tuition to law school. I was awarded that scholarship and I knew that becoming a lawyer was possible.

Is there anything else you’d like to share about your experience as a student at Ursuline College and/or your current program at Toledo?
My undergrad degree at Ursuline prepared me for my law degree at Dayton in a few ways. First, I was lucky to have an advisor, Sr. Cynthia Glavac, to help me choose classes that were academically challenging and geared toward making me a better writer and thinker. I was also a track and cross-country athlete in my time at college. Being a college athlete helped me in graduate school because I was able to take on challenges and balance schedules more easily. The close-knit community at Ursuline and the support I received throughout my 4 years gave me a foundation for success after college.

What do you want to do next?
In May 2022, I graduated with a law degree and then studied for the Ohio bar. I passed the bar, and now I am a business and real estate attorney for a midsize law firm in Bellefontaine Ohio. I hope to continue growing in the legal industry as an associate and hopefully make partner someday at a business-focused law firm.
