Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) Program Admission Requirements

Applications for our accelerated BSN program are accepted on a rolling basis for cohorts that begin in January, May, and August.

Applicants must meet the following admissions requirements:

• GPA of 2.5 or above cumulative average of all college course work
• A letter of recommendation, personal essay/statement or a resume
• If you are currently or have been previously enrolled in a nursing program, you need a letter of good standing from the Director/Dean of the program. If unable to obtain a letter of good standing from previous nursing program, student will have the option to participate in an interview with the Dean, Associate Dean, and ABSN Coordinator in lieu of this item.
• Required sciences (anatomy & physiology, inorganic/organic/biochemistry, and microbiology with labs) may be attempted only twice within the last seven years, earning a grade of "C" or higher, including courses taken at any previous schools. A withdrawal or a "W" is considered an attempt. If more that two attempts have been made, student may submit a letter of explanation for consideration.
• All science courses being transferred to Ursuline College must be taken within the last ten years. This includes anatomy & physiology, inorganic/organic/biochemistry, and microbiology.
• Letter of anticipated graduation is required if a bachelor’s degree is not yet conferred.

Applications are evaluated using a holistic process. Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee acceptance to The Breen School of Nursing. The Dean of the Breen School of Nursing will review mitigating circumstances on a case-by-case basis.
