    Why I Chose Ursuline

I chose Ursuline College for it’s team-based learning and inclusive atmosphere. My family was fortunate to find Ursuline College, as my four siblings, Thomas, Natalie, Olivia, Valerie, and I have each excelled here. Yet, the sense of family transcends beyond my own and throughout the college. The faculty and staff at Ursuline College are actively engaged in their students. With small class sizes I was able to make lasting relationships with my peers and create a foundational voice for myself in the field of science.

Putting My Ursuline Degree to Work

Ursuline taught me what it means to be a life-long learner. After completing my bachelor's in Honors Biology with a minor in Chemistry, I went on to earn my master's in Biomedical Sciences from The Commonwealth Medical College in Scranton, PA. Currently, I am in an 8-year dual-degree DO/PhD program at Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. I will be completing my PhD in Translational Biomedical Sciences with an emphasis on type 1 diabetes and novel autoimmune/glucose-sensing compounds in May 2021, and I will be graduating with my medical degree in May 2023. I am a two-time recipient of the John J. Kopchick Research Fellowship Award, and have been fortunate to speak at multiple national and international conferences, including most recently the 2020 Diabetes/Islet Biology Keystone Symposia in Santa Fe, NM. My career interest is pediatric endocrinology.

I’m Making My World More Confident

In our team-centric society, let others say you went above and beyond, rather than you did enough. Be self-aware of what you know and confident in what you don’t. Be the change you wish to see in others. Never stop reaching or evolving. Ursuline College is the foundation: keep building.
