    The Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program will prepare you as an advanced practice nurse and confident leader in the nursing field. In this master's in nursing program, you'll seek to transform the health of your community through reflection and healing interaction with individuals and organizations.

    Graduate nursing courses are presented in Ursuline's highly respected, value-based framework and emphasize the clinical components of advanced practice nursing. All students enrolled in the MSN degree program take the master's core courses to enhance clinical reasoning and utilize evidence-based practice. Students develop the knowledge and skills to become advanced practice nurses.

    The National League for Nursing has designated the Breen School of Nursing a national Center of Excellence and U.S. News & World Report ranks Ursuline's MSN program among the nation's top graduate nursing programs.

    Ursuline College MSN program graduates:

    MSN Degree Program Tracks

    As an MSN degree program student, you can choose from the following areas of study according to your goals and interests:

    MSN degree program subspecialties are offered in:

    Accreditation: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) Program

    The master's of science in nursing and the post-graduate certificate programs at Ursuline College are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) through 2025.

    Tuition for 2021-2022: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) Program

    For the 2021-2022 academic year, MSN degree program tuition will cost $1,240 per credit hour.

    Advanced practice nurses with MSNs are playing a critical role in health care reform. MSN degree graduates can expect a successful career based on the following data from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics:

    • CNBC ranks the nurse practitioner as the #1 fastest-growing career for college
    • Job growth of 45% is expected for nurse practitioners and other advanced practice registered nurses from 2019 to 2029.

    Admission Requirements: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) Program

    Students applying for admission in the master's in nursing program must meet both the general requirements for admission to all graduate programs and the specific requirements of the particular program of study. For the MSN program, admission requirements are as follows:

    MSN Degree General Admission Requirements

    • Application for Graduate Studies, including an essay of 500–1,000 words. Application may be submitted at
    • Non-refundable $25 application fee.
    • All official transcript(s) for baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution and any additional undergraduate or graduate academic coursework whether or not credit was earned, the program was completed, or the credit appears as transfer credit on another transcript, including one that verifies completion of an accredited baccalaureate program in nursing. Transcript(s) must be forwarded to the Office of Graduate Admission directly by the issuing institution.
    • Evidence of ability to do graduate work as indicated by a recommended 3.0 GPA shown on the applicant’s transcript(s).
    • Three recommendations utilizing the required recommendation form. Recommendations should be written by appropriate professionals attesting to the suitability of the applicant for graduate work in the particular field. Preferred references include: one from a previous instructor, one from an advanced practice nurse and one from a work supervisor.

    MSN Program-Specific Admission Requirements

    • Current, unencumbered Ohio Registered Nurse license.
    • A current resume reflecting a minimum of one-year work experience as a registered nurse. Nursing experience must be within the past two years.

    MSN Degree Program Application Deadline

    Applicants are urged to initiate formal application as far as possible in advance of the semester or term in which they plan to enroll. Graduate nursing courses begin in the fall and spring semesters. MSN applicants are encouraged to apply for fall semester by July 1 and for spring semester by December 1. Post master’s classes start every semester.
