If you’re thinking of applying to medical school or another professional health care graduate program, building a broad academic/extracurricular resume is the best thing you can do to be competitive. Gain exposure to the natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, and fine arts through the Ursuline Core Curriculum and take a sequence of prerequisites for admission to med school, pharmacy school or veterinary school, while majoring in Biology, Chemistry, or Biochemistry. Conduct your own research in our newly renovated lab spaces and present your findings at our Student Research Symposium. You’ll build leadership skills, engage in service, and round out your resume by fully participating in campus life. All of this, taken together, has resulted in a 100% medical school admission rate among applicants from Ursuline in recent years.
Our Pre-Medicine/Pre-Professional programs are not majors, but they are a major reason why Ursuline graduates do so well in health care graduate programs.
After three years of majoring in chemistry at Ursuline, qualified students may enroll at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh and complete the doctor of pharmacy program in four additional years.
Ursuline students are also able to apply for the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) Medical College Early Acceptance Program. After four years of majoring at Ursuline, qualified students may enroll at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine and complete the medical, pharmacy, or dental program in four additional years.
