BSN Undergraduate Nursing Program Admission Requirements

If you’re a high school student, you must meet the following admissions requirements to apply to the BSN degree program:

• GPA of 2.75 or above
• Demonstrate proficiency in high school algebra II and biology with lab by earning a C+ or higher in each of these courses

If you have college credit, you must meet the following admissions requirements to transfer into the bachelor’s in nursing degree program:

• GPA of 2.5 or above cumulative average of all college course work
• A letter of recommendation, personal essay/statement or a resume
• If you are currently or have been previously enrolled in a nursing program, you need a letter of good standing from the Director/Dean of the program. If unable to obtain a letter of good standing from previous nursing program, student will have the option to participate in an interview with the Dean and Associate Dean in lieu of this item.
• Required sciences (anatomy & physiology, inorganic/organic/biochemistry, and microbiology with labs) may be attempted only twice within the last seven years, earning a grade of "C" or higher, including courses taken at any previous schools. A withdrawal or a "W" is considered an attempt. If more than two attempts have been made, student may submit a letter of explanation for consideration.
• All science courses being transferred to Ursuline College must be taken within the last ten years. This includes anatomy & physiology, inorganic/organic/biochemistry, and microbiology.

Applications are evaluated using a holistic process. Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee acceptance to The Breen School of Nursing and Health Professions. The Dean of the Breen School of Nursing and Health Professions will review mitigating circumstances on a case-by-case basis.
