    International Admission Requirements

    International students must provide the following documents in order to be considered for admission.

    International First-Time, Full-Time Students

    • Submit your application
    • Send your high school transcript.
      • If you have taken course work in the United States you are required to send in your official transcript, for it to be considered official your transcript must be issued directly from your high school.
      • Other countries we will just need your high school transcript to be submitted to us.
    • WESECE or Global general transcript evaluation with grade point average (GPA) of international transcripts (excluding Canada, unless otherwise specified).
      • By turning in a WES, ECE or Global credit evaluation that helps us to keep giving holistic reviews of applications.
      • The cost associated with the transcript evaluation(s) is at the expense of the student not the college.
    • International students are required to have proficient use of English. If you are not from an English-speaking country you must provide proof of English language proficiency by submitting TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo, English3, ACT or SAT scores. If you do come from an English-speaking country or have attended secondary education within the United States, then you must provide an ACT or SAT score for proof of college readiness.
    • Personal Essay on any topic of your choice.
    • Complete the Declaration and Certification of Finances for your appropriate incoming academic year. 
      • The link to the form will be emailed to applicants after their application is submitted.
    • Optional: Letter of Recommendation
    • Optional: Biographical Passport Photo (you will be required to submit upon an accepted admission decision).

    International Transfer - Nursing

    • Submit your application
      • Apply through Ursuline’s Application on our website. It’s free and fast. Budget zero dollars and fifteen minutes of your time.
    • Send your official college transcript(s)
      • We will need transcripts from all colleges or universities that you have attended.
      • To be considered official, your transcript must be issued directly from your college or university.
      • If under 30 credit hours, we will also require your high school or secondary education transcript.
    • WESECE or Global course by course transcript evaluation of international transcripts (excluding Canada, unless otherwise specified).
      • By turning in a WES, ECE or Global credit evaluation we can keep giving holistic reviews of applications.
      • The cost associated with the transcript evaluation(s) is at the expense of the student not the college.
    • If you have previously attended courses or majored in Nursing previously, we will need a letter of good academic standing from the Dean of Nursing at that college or university.
      • If a student has taken any Nursing prerequisites or courses, they will have needed to pass them with a C or better within two attempts (withdraws count as an attempt) from an accredited institution.
    • International students are required to have proficient use of English. If you are from a college or university from a non-English-speaking country you must provide proof of English language proficiency by submitting TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo, English3, ACT or SAT scores. If you do come from an English-speaking country or have attended a college or university within the United States and have less than 30 credit hours completed at the time your application is submitted, then you must provide an ACT or SAT score for proof of college readiness. If you have more than 30 credit hoursandhave completed an English as a second language or English course, then you will not be required to submit an English proficiency test.
    • You must provide a professional experience document which can be one of the following: Resume, Letter of Recommendation or a Personal Essay on any topic of your choice.
    • Complete the Declaration and Certification of Finances for your appropriate incoming academic year. 
    • Optional: Biographical Passport Photo (you will be required to submit upon an accepted admission decision).

    International Transfer – Non-Nursing

    • Submit your application
    • Apply through Ursuline’s Application on our website. It’s free and fast. Budget zero dollars and fifteen minutes of your time.
    • Send your official college or university transcript(s).
    • We will need transcripts from all colleges or universities that you have attended.
    • To be considered official, your transcript must be issued directly from your college or university.
    • If under 30 credit hours, we will also require your high school or secondary education transcript.
    • WESECE or Global course by course transcript evaluation of international transcripts (excluding Canada, unless otherwise specified).
    • By turning in a WES, ECE or Global credit evaluation we can keep giving holistic reviews of applications.
    • The cost associated with the transcript evaluation(s) is at the expense of the student not the college.

    Second Degree Accelerated Program (SDAP)

    • Submit your application
      • Choose Ursuline’s Application. It’s free and fast. Budget zero dollars and fifteen minutes of your time.
    • Send your official college or university transcript(s).
      • We will need transcripts from all colleges or universities that you have attended.
      • To be considered official, your transcript must be issued directly from your college or university.
      • If graduation date is not posted on your college transcript, we will need a letter of graduation or anticipated graduation from your college or university.
    • WESECE or Globalcourse by course transcript evaluation of international transcripts (excluding Canada, unless otherwise specified).
      • By turning in a WES, ECE or Global credit evaluation that helps us to keep giving holistic reviews of applications.
      • The cost associated with the transcript evaluation(s) is at the expense of the student not the college.
    • If you have previously attended courses or majored in Nursing previously, we will need a letter of good academic standing from the Dean of Nursing at that college or university.
    • 8 credit hours of science perquisites (i.e. Anatomy & Physiology I & II, Microbiology, & Organic, Inorganic & Biochemistry) at a C within two attempts (withdraws count as an attempt) from an accredited institution. 
    • International students are required to have proficient use of English. If you are from a college or university from a non-English-speaking country you must provide proof of English language proficiency by submitting TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo, English3, ACT or SAT scores. If you do come from an English-speaking country or have graduated from a college or university within the United States, then you will not be required to submit an English proficiency test.
    • You must provide a professional experience document which can be one of the following: Resume, Letter of Recommendation or a Personal Essay on any topic of your choice.
    • Complete the Declaration and Certification of Finances for your appropriate incoming academic year. 
    • Optional: Biographical Passport Photo (you will be required to submit upon an accepted admission decision).

    Ursuline College Accelerated Program (UCAP)*

    • Submit your application
      • Apply through Ursuline’s Application on our website. It’s free and fast. Budget zero dollars and fifteen minutes of your time.
    • Send your official college or university transcript(s).
      • We will need transcripts from all colleges or universities that you have attended.
      • To be considered official, your transcript must be issued directly from your college or university.
      • If under 30 credit hours, we will also require your high school or secondary education transcript.
    • WES or ECE course by course transcript evaluation of all international transcripts (excluding Canada, unless otherwise specified).
    • If under 30 credit hours International students are required to have proficient use of English. You may provide proof of English language proficiency by submitting TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo, English3, ACT or SAT scores.
    • Optional: Letter of Recommendation
    • Optional: Personal Essay on any topic of your choice.
    • Optional: Resume
    • Optional: Biographical Passport Photo (you will be required to submit upon an accepted admission decision).

    * Due to Visa requirements, and the nature of this program this can be difficult to complete as an international student. International students are required to take 12 credit hours per semester, and only one of those courses are eligible to be online or in a hybrid format. International students will not be allowed to attend any programs that are fully online due to Visa requirements.


    International Graduate Students

    • Submit your application
      • The application for graduate studies includes a 500-1,000 word essay, which can be submitted in paper form or online at ursuline.edu/apply.
    • Pay the application fee
      • The non-refundable application fee is $25.
    • Submit your official transcripts
      • Ursuline requires that all official transcript(s) be submitted as part of the application process including for a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution and any additional undergraduate or graduate academic coursework whether or not credit was earned, the program was completed, or the credit appears as transfer credit on another transcript. These must be forwarded to the Office of Graduate Admission directly by the issuing institution.
      • For non-degree programs (Principal Licensure, Endorsements, Graduate Nursing Post Master’s Certificates), only the official transcript from the highest degree earned is required.
      • For graduates of Ursuline College, the Office of Graduate Admission will request your official transcript. You do not need to order it.
    • Provide your GPA
      • A recommended 3.0 GPA or higher shown on your transcript(s) provides evidence of your ability to do graduate work. You may be asked to provide other evidence of academic ability if your GPA is below 3.0. At the discretion of the dean, students may be admitted conditionally if their GPA is below 3.0.
    • Submit three recommendations
      • Three recommendations utilizing the required recommendation form. Recommendations should be written by appropriate professionals attesting to the suitability of the applicant for graduate work in the particular field.
      • MSN applicants: Preferred references include one from a previous instructor, one from an advanced practice nurse and one from a work supervisor.
      • You can submit contact information for your recommenders through the online application.
    • Interview
      • If applicable, you will be interviewed by the program director.
    • Complete additional requirements
      • Visit your program’s webpage for additional admission requirements.

    • International Admission Requirements
      • Demonstrate a high-level of competence in the use of the English language prior to admission, including reading, writing, speaking and listening, by achieving a score of at least 550 PBT (Paper-Based Test) or 213 CBT (Computer-Based Test) or 80 iBT (Internet-Based Test) on the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language, ets.org/toefl); 6.5 on the IELTS (International English Language Testing System, ielts.org); 105 on the Duolingo English Test (englishtest.duolingo.com/applicants); or 69 on the English3 (E3PT) exam (https://english3.com). Applicants should make arrangements to take the test as soon as graduate study at Ursuline College is anticipated and should request the official test score to be forwarded directly to the Office of Graduate Admission at Ursuline College. If you come from an English-speaking country or have graduated from a college or university within the United States, you will not be required to submit an English proficiency test.
        • The Duolingo English Test is an online English proficiency test that can be taken online, on-demand, in under an hour for only $49. The test is taken via a computer with a camera and includes a proficiency score, video interview, and writing sample which are shared with Ursuline when you send your results. Certified results are available within 48 hours of the test session.
      • Provide official translations and evaluations of all transcripts or educational credentials. Ursuline College accepts evaluations from the World Education Services (wes.org), Educational Credential Evaluators (ece.org) or Global Credential Evaluators (gceus.com).
      • Submit a statement of financial resources available for meeting the financial obligations incurred while attending Ursuline College.
      • Meet the general and specific requirements for admission to the graduate program and be accepted for full-time study (at least 6 semester credits).
