Assistant Program Director, Graduate Counseling and Art Therapy

Summary
Ursuline College, a small liberal arts college located on a tranquil campus outside of Cleveland, Ohio, is seeking a full-time faculty member, with teaching and leadership responsibilities, in its graduate Counseling and Art Therapy Program. The position would begin August 15th, 2024. The program provides education and training in clinical mental health counseling and art therapy, and is accredited by CACREP and CAAHEP/ACATE. Twelve-month appointment, tenure/non-tenure track TBD, rank commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities
- Assist with program leadership to continue to build upon the strong foundations and reputation of this exceptional program and faculty.
- Serve as lead for CAAHEP/ACATE accreditation processes, including curriculum and program development, assessment, data collection, analyses, and report writing.
- Maintain knowledge of licensing and credentialing issues affecting art therapy and counseling.
- Oversee studio space needs and materials management, including art/materials ordering, coordination, and organization; supervision of graduate studio assistants; and special workshops/electives coordination.
- Assist with program outreach, recruitment, and other special events.
- Maintain expertise within content and clinical areas to teach graduate level courses.
- Advise students, participate in candidate interviews, and other departmental operations.
- Engage in the responsibilities of a full-time faculty appointment, including college committee work.
Qualifications
- Doctorate in Art Therapy (or Expressive Therapies, with emphasis in Art Therapy, Creative Arts Therapies, with emphasis in Art Therapy) preferred; or Doctorate in Counselor Education, with prior Master’s level training in Art Therapy
- Required: ATR-BC (Nationally Registered and Board-Certified Art Therapist), with strong familiarity with national art therapy accreditation processes (i.e., CAAHEP/ACATE)
- Preferred: LPC, LPCC, LPCC-S or counseling license eligible in Ohio desirable
- Active participation in state, national, and local professional organizations
- Evidence of continuing scholarly work and competence in teaching
- Excellent communication skills, flexibility, mature judgment, and a commitment to teaching in a creative, collaborative, inclusive, and values-based environment
