Summary
Under the supervision of the Nurse Practitioner (NP) Coordinator for all clinical sites utilized by the MSN program this position serves as the communication link with all preceptors for Nurse Practitioner students completing clinical hours. The goal of this position is to facilitate the placement of Nurse Practitioner students in appropriate clinical settings based upon their MSN program course work. The clinical coordinator will assist with ensuring that students are placed in clinical sites that correspond to the didactic course work they are studying. The CCA will work closely with the NP Program Coordinator to identify any concerns related to clinical site placement. This is a part-time, 20 hrs/week, 12 month staff position. Position to begin as soon as possible.
Responsibilities
Investigate and acquire new clinical sites and preceptors for clinical experiences for all nurse practitioner students. Provide orientation materials to all new preceptors to the program/track requirements and facilitate meetings or conference calls with the NP Program Coordinator as needed. Serve as a clinical liaison for the MSN program for the preceptors, clinical sites, and clinical instructor as needed. Maintain and update Excel sheets of active preceptors and clinical sites. Coordinate paperwork required for clinical sites to expedite processing of students at clinical sites while maintaining appropriate student records. Work with clinical instructors to ensure that students maintain adequate records of their clinical experiences and that instructor’s evaluation of students, clinical sites, and preceptors as required by Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Maintain and enhance preceptor resource manuals and resource materials as well as preceptor logs with updated preceptor contact information. Maintains databases and records regarding faculty evaluation of clinical sites.
Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent and at least 2 years office experience, preferably in higher education. Associate degree preferred as well as experience in a hospital-based or clinic-based setting. Proficient technical skills in MS Office including Word, Excel and databases. Ability to multi-task and work in an inclusive community; detail oriented; strong communication and organization skills. Ability to interact effectively with College community and the public.
