Coordinator, Residence Life & Housing Operations

Summary
The Residence Life Coordinator is responsible for the daily management of on-campus housing, supporting the Residence Life mission across two traditional and one suite-style residence halls (approx. 200 residents). This live-in, 12-month position promotes student development through resident interaction and operational tasks utilizing Microsoft Office 365. A key component involves developing and managing Title III-funded living-learning communities (Project UPWARD) to enhance student belonging. This role allows the individual to develop a broad skill set that extends beyond traditional student development and engagement. The small college environment uniquely allows for involvement in diverse, campus-wide initiatives, such as summer camp and conference coordination, providing rich cross-functional experience across various departments and administrative areas. Position reports to Director of Housing and Residence Life.
Residence Life Mission
To create a living learning community that promotes the holistic development of students. The residence halls provide an environment for students to interact with diverse populations, engage in leadership opportunities, and explore their identity. Students are responsible for respecting each other, managing conflict, taking ownership of communal space, and working together to create social and educational experiences for all.
Responsibilities
Housing Operations and Technology
- Coordinate move-in/move-out processes for residents and summer groups.
- Support action steps associated with room and roommate assignments, room changes, and room condition reports.
- Determine maintenance and repair needs for residence halls and utilize the college work order system to document and report room and community space damages.
- Maintain and submit departmental forms and reports including but not limited to: Accident & Incident Reports, Policy Documentation, and Program Evaluation Reports.
- Keep an accurate inventory of building keys and facilitate key distribution/collection for residents and summer camps and conferences.
- Provide technological support for the processes associated with programming and scheduling resident student access to the halls.
- Partner with campus security to plan, execute, and document fire drills in accordance with annual security and fire safety reporting requirements.
- Complete resident room and suite health and safety inspections regularly.
Advising & Student Support
- Engage with residents to build rapport and foster an inclusive, welcoming community presence, balancing approachability with consistent, professional boundaries.
- Be knowledgeable of available campus and community resources and make appropriate referrals related to student academic, social, and/or personal concerns.
- Ensure dependable availability through established office hours to help address student needs and provide timely support.
- Serve as the programming, and leadership adviser to Residence Hall Council (RHC).
Community Development
- Develop a strategy for educating residents about community living standards and ensuring compliance.
- Cultivate a positive and engaging living environment that fosters a sense of belonging and enables students to build positive relationships with one another.
- Establish and maintain high visibility and accessibility throughout the residence halls by direct resident engagement, participation in community events, routine community tours, and use of the community dining space.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to develop, implement, and assess educational programs supporting resident and commuter student learning goals related to the Project UPWARD Title III-funded living-learning communities.
Supervision
- Manage the full cycle of paraprofessional residence hall staff operations, including recruitment, training, evaluation, and providing necessary support and resources.
- Develop a comprehensive program for the Resident Assistants, prioritizing team connectivity and personal development through a schedule of weekly team meetings and individual check-ins.
- Guide RAs in executing the department’s residential curriculum and community development model.
- Serve as back-up to the RA on duty in weeknight and weekend on-call rotation.
- Meet individually with the Director of Housing & Residence Life for scheduled supervision and communicate critical issues, trends, and progress on projects.
- Support and engage in all Project UPWARD activities as directed by the Program Director.
Student Conduct and Crisis Management
- Serve as a Campus Security Authority and Title IX mandatory reporter.
- Provide leadership in times of crisis and assist in emergency situations as needed.
- Uphold and interpret the rights and responsibilities of all students through consistent and fair policy enforcement.
Summer Operations
- Participate in Summer Academic Advising & Registration days in collaboration with the Office of Student Engagement and Orientation.
- Promote the on-campus living experience to incoming students and their parents during summer orientation.
- Assist with summer camp and conference operations between hall closing in May and hall open in August.
- Develop and communicate a plan with Facilities to prepare the residence halls for the fall semester.
- Serve as the liaison to the college’s maintenance and housekeeping departments to coordinate summer residence hall maintenance projects, room and suite turnover, and deep cleaning.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, education, or relevant field.
- Previous experience in residence life or college housing.
- Must be able to work non-traditional hours as needed, including evenings, weekends, break periods, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in higher education, student personnel, or relevant field.
- Three to five years experience in residence life or college housing.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365.
- Experience with housing software including door access technology.
