Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Course Instructor

Summary
The Ursuline College Breen School of Nursing and Health Professions invites applications for a full-time 12-month faculty position in the Graduate Nursing Program. Release time for clinical practice or research is allowed to support research and/or APRN practice hours required for re-certification. The target start date is January 2025; rank is commensurate with experience, and the position reports to the Associate Dean Graduate Nursing Programs, and the Dean, Breen School of Nursing and Health Professions.
Responsibilities
The DNP Course Instructor will teach the didactic portions of assigned course(s).and provide academic leadership for integrating the course and its content into the DNP curriculum and DNP residency experiences. Specific responsibilities include:
1. Maintaining expertise within content areas taught as well as state of the art teaching practices.
2. Developing the course syllabus according to the course description and objectives approved by the Graduate Curriculum Committee.
3. Teaching classes; preparing assessment methodologies, and DNP residency hour assignments.
4. Documenting student issues, particularly in the case of possible course failures or delays in program progression.
5. Updating the use of textbooks and other readings and electronic resources or technologies as necessary.
6. Submitting course grades to the registrar (through “MyUrsuline” a computerized grade entry system)
7. Adhering to Graduate studies academic policies and procedures.
8. Maintaining open communication with the faculty, Associate Dean of the Graduate Nursing Program and Dean, specifically when there are questions about students or residency hour completion or student concerns/issues.
9. Required attendance at Graduate Nursing Committee meetings, DNP Faculty Committee and assigned DNP subcommittees, The Breen School of Nursing and Health Professions Meetings, Faculty Assembly Meetings, and other committees as assigned per self-governance guidelines.
10. Serving as an academic advisor to assigned students.
11. Serving as a DNP Project Team Leader for students.
12. Adhering to the Faculty Handbook guidelines commensurate with rank.
13. Other duties as assigned or expected of the teaching role.
Qualifications
1. Doctoral Degree (DNP, PhD, EdD)
2. Teaching experience required
3. Unencumbered license as an RN in the State of Ohio
4. Excellent interpersonal skills, strong critical thinking, organization, and problem-solving skills, proficient written and verbal language skills, strong quantitative and analytic skills
5. Experience working in an inclusive community
6. Commitment to fulfill the mission statement of the college
