    Maintenance Worker

    Summary

    Maintain and repair college equipment, facilities, and grounds. This position requires the ability to have full bodily movement for activities, including the ability to repair machinery by hand and to maintain the grounds by hand. The work schedule is Tuesday through Saturday. Availability for on-call work for emergencies during off hours, including snow removal.

    Responsibilities

    • Work from work order requests, verbal, electronic and written instructions, including tracking, completion & close-out of all service and PM work orders.
    • Install wiring and lighting hardware; replace ballasts, fixtures, motors, pumps, re-building of pump seals and other equipment; install or repair faucets, sinks, waterlines, and other plumbing equipment.
    • Maintain water treatment system; check water clarity and record readings; wash down and clean equipment.
    • Check system lines for leaks or malfunctions; make repairs.
    • Maintain facility appearance; repair and paint walls and other structures; replace tile, roofing, windows; move furniture, build shelves.
    • Maintain grounds appearance; plow snow, salt sidewalks; remove debris and rubbish; patch parking areas and roads; insure hazard free conditions.
    • Make pickups and deliveries on and off campus of packages, supplies, and other items; operate vehicles in a safe manner observing rules and laws of the road.
    • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment, vehicles, and machinery; inspect fire extinguishers, sprinkler systems, other safety equipment.
    • Exercise proper care in the use of tools, equipment, and materials; complete maintenance records and sign off.
    • Detect and report faulty equipment, defective material, improper operations, and unusual conditions to supervision.
    • Attend and participate in department training including van training.
    • Provide day-time security activities.
    • Observe all prescribed safety rules and regulations.
    • Maintain work areas in a neat and orderly condition.
    • Collect and transport to containers, refuse and recycling.

    Qualifications

    High school education or equivalent plus two (2) years related experience. Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems. Ability to handle the physical demands of the job including standing, bending, pulling, pushing, climbing and lifting up to 50lbs. Effective communication skills. Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record. Available to work required OT.
