Why did you decide to attend Ursuline College?
Ursuline College had the program I was searching for: a way to combine the creative arts into a healing profession. The Counseling and Art Therapy Master’s program allowed me to pursue a career I was passionate about while being able to stay in Ohio.
What’s the best part of the Counseling and Art Therapy Master’s program?
The best part of the program had to be the supportive staff and people I met along the way. They helped motivate us to do better, to aim for better. I was always encouraged to push my educational limits while still being afforded guidance and assurance I was on the right path. Not many master’s programs expect so much of their students while still giving unconditional direction.
How has your experience at Ursuline helped your career?
I currently work in a psychiatric hospital setting and I believe the program’s foundation of creative healing as a pathway to wellness is something I utilize daily at my job.
Why should other students apply to the Counseling and Art Therapy program?
It’s a unique program, truly no other like it in Ohio. The idea of foundational values and structure in mental health counseling in combination with the creative passion required for art therapy makes it an amazing steppingstone into this career field.
What year did you graduate from Ursuline College and what are you doing now?
I graduated from Ursuline college in the spring of 2017 and have been successfully working in the field of Counseling and Art Therapy since. I am currently at Lutheran Hospital as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and a Board-Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC). Additionally, I work in a contracting art therapy position with Cleveland Catholic Charities in their Migrant and Refugee Services.
