Assistant Director, Financial Aid ??" Loan Specialist

Summary
Administers federal and private loan programs for the campus, as well as financial aid packaging for returning and new graduate students. This is a full-time, 12-month staff position reporting to the Senior Associate Director of Financial Aid.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the coordination, processing (originations and disbursements), and reconciliation of the Federal Direct and private loan programs.
- Responsible for overseeing the NFLP fund and reporting/balancing with billing agency.
- Responsible for checking eligibility of student loan disbursements for release of funds and exporting disbursements to the Business Office.
- Identify and correct rejected loan originations and disbursements, adjust loans as required and return funds through COD when necessary.
- Responsible for development of and participation in loan Exit Counseling Sessions.
- Determine financial need and package aid entitled to returning students and new graduate students. Perform needs analysis and verification of applicants as needed during packaging.
- Processing of outside awards and tracking.
- Work closely with the Admission staff in recruiting incoming class, including meeting, and advising prospective students, and presentations at events and area high schools.
- Counsel students and parents about various programs, eligibility criteria, application procedures, verification procedures, debt management, and intended usage of all student assistance funds received.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and two years financial aid experience preferred.
- Knowledge of federal regulations governing Title IV aid, including Direct Loans, NSLDS, and TEACH.
- Attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to effectively prioritize multiple tasks.
- Exceptional organizational skills and adaptability to evolving federal regulations are essential.
- Thorough understanding of federal and private loan programs, compliance requirements, and student aid processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Preferred experience with: PowerFAIDS, Slate, Jenzabar, U.S. Department of Education platforms, including FAFSA Partner Connect, COD, NSLDS, and the FAFSA Partner Portal.
