Summary
The Breen School of Nursing invites applications for the position of Director of the Health Resource and Simulation Center. This is a 12-month full-time faculty position within the Breen School of Nursing with release time to support the administrative functions of the position. Rank is commensurate with experience. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2026.
Responsibilities
The Director of the Health Resource and Simulation Center coordinates all activities in the Health Resource Center and Simulation Center, including:
1. Provide oversight for all Health Resource and Simulation Center spaces.
2. Create and enforce Health Resource and Simulation Center policies for students, faculty, and staff.
3. Track laboratory expenses in collaboration with the Director of the Breen School of Nursing.
4. Maintain Health Resource and Simulation Center schedule for all lab spaces to ensure equitable access across all academic programs.
5. Monitor task-trainers, simulators, medical equipment, and supplies and makes recommendations for purchase to the Director of the Breen School of Nursing and the Dean.
6. Monitor lab usage and track associated data to use as the basis for evaluating the effectiveness of the Health Resource and Simulation Center, for recommending purchases and laboratory enhancements, and producing an annual CQI report.
7. Provide direction, supervision, and evaluation of duties performed by Health Resource Center Assistant and Lab adjuncts.
8. Maintain competency in simulation methodology through professional development and attainment and/or maintenance of CHSE certification.
9. Conduct all high-fidelity simulation for undergraduate nursing programs (includes simulation design, pre-briefing, facilitation, debriefing, evaluation, and operations) and provide oversight and support of high-fidelity simulation for all other health profession programs.
10. Provide systematic evaluation of simulation throughout the curriculum.
11. Support and provide expert knowledge of simulation to assist faculty with integration of simulation throughout the undergraduate and graduate nursing curriculum, as well as other health profession programs.
12. Collaborate with faculty to conduct research related to simulation, educational technology, and clinical skills competency.
13. Assist faculty with integration of educational technology into the curriculum.
14. Assist faculty to design, implement, and evaluate competency testing throughout the curriculum.
15. Teach in the undergraduate and/or graduate nursing programs as assigned.
16. Demonstrate familiarity with and adherence to accreditation and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include:
1. Completion of an approved registered nursing education program in a jurisdiction as defined in paragraph (R) of rule 4723-5-01 of the Ohio Administrative Code.
2. Experience for at least five years in the practice of nursing as a registered nurse.
3. Masters in degree with a major in nursing.
4. Must qualify for a faculty appointment and maintain an unencumbered RN license to practice nursing in Ohio.
Preferred qualifications:
1. Earned doctoral degree.
2. Teaching experience in an undergraduate and/or graduate nursing program.
3. Academic leadership experience.
4. CHSE certification.
