Why I Chose Ursuline
I originally chose Ursuline because of its small size. I loved being in small classes where you weren't just another nameless face in the crowd. Your professors knew who you were and I think that really impacts your education. I loved the small campus. It made things more intimate. It didn't feel like you were being swallowed up by a city-sized campus experience. I chose Ursuline because it is a Catholic college. I grew up going to Catholic schools for my entire education and it was something that I was comfortable with.
Putting my Ursuline degree to Work
I loved my time at Ursuline. I would in no way be where I am today if it weren't for Ursuline College and my amazing professors. I started as a nursing student and the biology professors saw potential in me I didn't realize was there. The biology professors had individual evaluations and during mine asked me to consider changing from nursing to a pre-med/biology major. Ursuline chose me. They continued to challenge, encourage, support and drive me into the career and life I have today. I went on to Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. Now I am an owner of Southwest Family Medicine Inc. and practice inpatient and outpatient medicine.
I'm Making my World More Balanced
I practice medicine to help patients balance and maintain good health, healthcare goals, and quality of life. I'm involved in hospital committees and governance bodies that help balance hospital, insurance, patient and physician needs. And as a woman in medicine with a husband and child on the way, I have found a healthy work and life balance to maintain my career and home life and avoid burnout.
