Why I Chose Ursuline
I was impressed by the UCAP Bachelor of Social Work program that was being offered when I was applying to four-year colleges after receiving my Associate's Degree in Human Services at Cuyahoga Community College. Ursuline’s outstanding academic reputation and the opportunity to attend classes on-line were the perfect combination for me.
Putting My Ursuline Degree to Work
My first three semesters at Ursuline gave me the educational background in social work required for me to begin my field placement at Medina County Job and Family Services, Children’s Division. I also became a member of the National Association of Social Workers and was elected the Bachelor of Social Work Student Board Member. This opportunity was presented by a guest speaker during one of our on-line classes.
I’m Making My World More...
[Just] You are never too old to make a difference in the world. I believed for too long that I was too old to go back to college. I want to set an example for all students, especially non-traditional students, that age is not a barrier to receiving an education. My life experiences and my Ursuline education in Social Work will allow me to work in a field where I can be an advocate for oppressed populations and work to change social policies that negatively impact my community and society.
