    Diversity Assistant and International Student Service Coordinator

    Summary

    The Office of Diversity’s mission is to heighten cultural, ethnic and social justice awareness through program initiatives that support respect for the richness of diversity within the campus community. Multicultural education includes working with students and employees of various races, creeds, religions, national origins, international, and/or sexual orientations. This is a part-time, 12 month position reporting to the Assistant Dean of Diversity.

    Responsibilities for Diversity Office

    Oversee various facets of designated campus events including planning, facilitation, and publicity; some events may require evening/weekend hours and may also include driving students to programs/events. Perform administrative duties for the Diversity Office, including creating publications, and updating department website. Work closely with the AIMS student mentoring program. Co-Advise the Black Student Union organization.

    Responsibilities for International Student Support

    Primary liaison for first time and returning international students, providing information and support, including administrative tasks for them to become successful; connect students with needed resources. Update student records, track and monitor developments in SEVIS and other INS related regulations and ensure students are complying with college and Immigration/Naturalization Service guidelines. Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO).

    Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree and at least 1 year of relevant experience, preferably in higher education. Experience with programming; excellent communication skills; proficient in technical skills in MS Office-Word, Excel, and databases. Prior experience working with international students/ willing to become certified in SEVIS. Must be a US citizen or US lawful permanent resident to meet qualification for DSO. Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities and work in an inclusive/diverse community. Additional desired experience include familiarity with the Catholic College’s mission and liberal arts traditional college environment. Valid driver’s license required for driving students to college sponsored events.
